Objective
I built a mechanism for a 120lb robot to latch onto a horizontal, unbalanced beam and then traverse along the beam while suspended in the air.
Role
I was responsible for the design, manufacture, and assembly of this mechanism for the team-built robot.
Results
The robot showed consistent climbing performance during competition in the Hatboro-Horsham FMA District Event for the 2020 FIRST Robotics Season.
Reflection
Building this mechanism was the first time I got to lead a group through the engineering design cycle. In this process, I developed my skills in CAD design and gained familiarity with manufacturing.
